GENUINE at Discover Germany 2025 in Shanghai

At the Discover Germany 2025 event in Shanghai, our CEO Damian Maib represented GENUINE on a high-level panel alongside Beiersdorf, Mast-Jägermeister SE, and the Bundesliga. The discussion focused on what makes German brands successful in China and how TikTok Shop is reshaping global e-commerce. From October 23 to 26, the four-day brand showcase brought together nearly 50 premium German brands at Shanghai’s Bund. Hosted by AHK Greater China and supported by the German Consulate in Shanghai, the event celebrated German quality and connected it with China’s fast-moving consumer market.

Sharing insights on TikTok Shop and brand success in China

As an agency based in China, we at GENUINE were proud to contribute our perspective to the dialogue between German and Chinese business leaders. Successful German brands in China are those that adapt quickly, understand local needs, and turn their learnings from China into global strategies. Several well-known German brands took part in the event, including Jean & Len, reflecting the growing interest in China’s dynamic retail landscape.

We were also delighted to welcome Philipp Hitschler-Becker from hitschies in Shanghai. He plans to integrate the insights from his visit directly into upcoming TikTok Shop campaigns. His visit once again showed how the exchange between China and Germany can inspire new ideas.

Cultural exchange and collaboration

In addition to the business discussions, Discover Germany 2025 offered visitors a look into German culture through food, design, music, and interactive activities. It provided a space for direct dialogue between companies and consumers, connecting both markets on a personal level.

Strengthening the bridge between Germany and China
